About

Why build an OS
in 2026?

Because every layer between your hardware and your work is a layer that can watch you, and almost nobody owns those layers any more. Modern computing is assembled from components whose behaviour you accept rather than choose.

XerisOS is the argument that this is still a choice. It boots your machine, drives your hardware, draws your desktop and runs your browser — and there is no vendor runtime in between, because there is no code in it that anyone else wrote.

It is built by Xeris Technologies, alongside the blockchain and sovereign-AI work under the same principle: privacy by default, and no dependency you cannot inspect.

Principles

How it gets built

Measure, don't assume

Performance claims on this site are numbers taken off real hardware. When something is slow, the first change is the one that makes the cause visible.

Fail loudly

A call that cannot be honoured returns an error. Silently reporting success for work that did not happen turns a clear fault into corruption somewhere else.

Say what doesn't work

The documentation carries a known-limits section. Software gets better when its gaps are written down.

Testing on your own machine? The hardware report that helps most is the make and model, the storage controller, and the Wi-Fi chipset.
